Location of the ENSEIRB-MATMECA on the campus of Talence

 You will find below practical information for your arrival and stay in Bordeaux/Talence and to organize your participation to the conference.

Important dates

  •  24th of June 2018: Appointment to get badges and material will start Sunday afternoon 3-6 pm in front of ENSEIRB-MATMECA building. 
  •  25 th of June 2018: Distribution of bages and material is planned from 8h to 9h am
  •  25th of June 2018: ICAR 2018 begins at 9h am!

Local Information


The conference will take place on the Campus of Talence, in the south suburbs of Bordeaux, at the National School ENSEIRB-MATMECA, Talence.

The campus is easily accessible from the center of Bordeaux by the tramway line B. The closer tramway stop is "Arts et Métiers" (see map below).

From the airport, shuttles can drive you to the main train station. "Lianes 1" is a high frequency bus (every 10 min) going from the Merignac airport to the train station of Bordeaux Saint Jean. This bus line is connected to the tramway B (Stop "La victoire" in Bordeaux) and to the tramway A (stop "Lycee de Merignac in Merignac). The bus run from 4h45 to 00h20 from Sunday to Wednesday and 1h20 from Tuesday to Saturday.

You can also use public transportation (buses, mainly) depending on your final destination. More information on local transport are available at : .

Bordeaux has a service of bicycles rental (V3; 1,5€ per day, 7€ per week) with several stations are around ENSEIRB-MATMECA

Lunch and Gala Dinner

  • Lunches will be taken at ENSREIB-MATMECA (Buffet)
  • A picnic is included in the field trip
  • The Conference diner will take place on Thursday 28th June at the "Café Maritime" (, close to the City of Wine, in Bordeaux.

         The "Café Maritime" is easily accessible from tramway line B. The closer tramway stop is "Cité du vin" (see map below).


Field trip

The field trip will take place on Wednesday 27th June (departure at 9h00 by bus).

During the field trip, participants will discover the Dune du Pilat, the highest dune in Europe.

The field trip will end by a visit (in English) of the "Chateau Pape Clément" including the testing of thee different wines.


Several type of accommodation at varying prices have been negotiated and are described below.

1.     University rooms

Renovated room (9 m²) for one person with shower and toilet and a kitchen corner (fridge and hot plate; no dishes or kitchenware).  50 rooms are available in the different university village of the campus, all villages being accessible with the tramway. The rooms available in the Village 2 can be seen at : .

Rates : For any rental, whatever the duration, an fix amount of 30.80€ is due for bedding and cleaning.  The daily rate is 22.28 € for students and 35.30 € for non-students

If you are interested by these room, please contact the organizing committee ( before the 30th April 2018 and provide your name, email address, date of arrival and departure. The organizing committee will send you then back the name and email of the person to contact to finalize the reservation and establish the payment. The payment must be made before the 31th May. An appointment will be taken with the organizing committee to deliver the keys.

2.     “Student” studios

 “Studios” are available at the residences Study’O ( at negotiated prices depending on the size of the room (see below). The Residence “Talence University 1” is at walking distance of the conference, “Talence University 2” a little bit further but still at walking distance. The rates per night are given below as a function of the surface (T1 : one room; T2 : 2 rooms; T3 : 3 rooms). They include the reception, internet access, bed and bath linen kit, crockery kit but additional paid services are proposed as described on the web site.

ICAR pre and post meeting excursions

The Polish Geomorphological Association proposes to the participants of ICAR X to participate to two field trips before and after the conference.

The pre-meeting excursion will take place in Poland from 19 to 24 June 2018.

The post-meeting meeting will take place in Morocco from 30 June to 5 July 2018.

The registration fees depend on ISAR membership and on the status (student or permanent). They include the lunches, the conference dinner and the mid-conference field trip. Accompanying person can register for the field trip and/or the conference dinner.

Oral presentations

The session room will have a Full HD video projector allowing 16:9 slides. A supplied PC Laptop will be provided for presentations. This PC will have in particular the following software: Microsoft Windows 10, Microsoft PowerPoint (2016), and Adobe Reader (2018).

The presentation file should be in PDF or PPT format.

Speakers are invited to bring their presentations to the meeting on a USB flash/pocket drive and to upload them onto the supplied laptop before the beginning of their session.

Video should be imbedded in the presentation or uploaded with the presentation onto the supplied laptop.
