How to get to the meeting venue?

on foot: Avignon is a relatively small city. So, if you book a hotel in the centre of the town, you can easily walk from your hotel to the conference venue. It's also the best way to discover this historic medevial town through the pedestrian streets

by bicycle : you can rent self-service bikes "Velopop"

by a friendly type of public transportation : the 100 % emission-free  "Baladine"

by city buses (for example, lines 3, 5, 8; CityZen Les Italiens). Get off at bus stop "Université" or "St Lazare"

Visit the  website of the Avignon bus company TCRA. You will find information on different services available inside the town (buses, Baladine, Vélopop) and on ticket prices.

A search engine will help you to find your route from your hotel to the meeting venue

Participants will have many opportunities to exchange and establish contacts in an informal atmosphere (welcome reception, gala dinner,..).

Visits will also permit to discover Avignon outstanding historical and scenic environment, like Les-Baux-de-Provence, one of the most beautiful village of France.

A technical tour is proposed to have an insight of some of the on-going research programmes on plant viruses at INRA (interested persons should select this option during registration).

How to get to Avignon

Avignon is served by high-speed trains from main French cities, highways and an international airport. If you decide to come by car, you can find free or pay parkings. The "parking des Italiens"  is free and near the conference location.

Please note that there are two train stations in Avignon, both served by high-speed trains: one is located in the city centre ("Avignon Centre") and the other is 6 km from the historic centre ("Avignon Gare TGV"). This latter train station is linked by a regular train  " La virgule" to the city centre

The Organizing Committee will not take charge of hotel booking. We recommend that you book rooms as soon as possible as Avignon is among the favorite tourist spots in Provence

  • Your luggage before or after the conference? "La consigne", located downtown at 150 meters from the train station, allow you to leave your luggage from 1 hour to several days. You can book online
