Milk, driver of development


Dakar, June 12-13, 2019

Following the first two editions held in Rennes in 2014 and in Rabat in 2017, the 3rd edition of the "Milk, vector of development" symposium will take place from 12 to 13 June 2019 in Dakar (Senegal). The objective of the symposium is to further the exchange of experience around diversity of development models concerning milk development observed worldwide. It will be an opportunity to bring together private companies, producer organizations, policy makers, development agencies and scientists, to highlight the vitality of such sector, document change trajectories and identify sustainable development pathways. The 2019 edition is specifically geared towards assessing the central role of women and the most modest breeders in the development of dairy sectors. The symposium will also intend to better identify the role of private companies, NGOs and public policies in supporting their sustainable development.

The main ambition of this symposium is to achieve better coordination of actions around milk and dairy products in West Africa, Europe and developing countries. This includes giving rise to joint development, research, training or support projects for local communities
