Corsica is one of the largest Mediterranean island, which is located at 170 km from France (Nice) and 85 km from Italy. The island is 183 km long and 83 km large.

Corsica belongs to France since 1769. It is an administrative region (Region Corse) and is composed by 2 districts (Haute Corse and Corse-du-Sud). Ajaccio is the capital city of Corse-du-Sud and Bastia the one of Haute-Corse.

Corsica is a mountain in the sea, with a maximum elevation of 2700 m.

The main vegetation found is maquis, which is composed of typical Mediterranean plant associations that gave this special scent to the countryside.

French laws and rules apply to Corsica (!).

For the citizens of most countries no demand for a visa is required ahead of the travel.
